Privacy Policy

Dermi ("Dermi," "we," "us") helps you understand what the food you eat might mean for your skin. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We built Dermi to keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the app — there are no advertising or third-party tracking tools inside it, and we never sell your personal information.
Information you provide
When you use Dermi, you give us:
- Account details — your email address and password, or, if you use Sign in with Apple, the name and email Apple chooses to share (this may be a private "relay" address). You may also set a display name.
- Skin and health preferences — skin type, skin concerns, known sensitivities, food allergies, dietary preferences, and any custom entries you add. Some of this is health-related information, which you choose to share so Dermi can personalize your scores.
- Your activity — the barcodes and products you scan or search, the Dermi Scores generated for them, foods you save as favorites, and the breakout outcomes you log over time (with timestamps).
Camera and barcode scanning
Dermi asks for camera access only to scan food barcodes. Camera frames are processed on your device to read the barcode — images are not saved and are never sent to us or anyone else. Only the decoded barcode number (or the text you type in search) is used to look up the product.
Information collected automatically
We keep this to a minimum. Your login session and some onboarding state are stored locally on your device so you stay signed in and don't repeat setup. Dermi does not include third-party analytics, advertising, or cross-app tracking tools, and we do not build advertising profiles about you.
How we use your information
- Run the core features — look up products, calculate your Dermi Score, and adjust future estimates based on the outcomes you log.
- Save your profile, history, and favorites so they're available when you sign in.
- Create and secure your account, including sending transactional emails such as sign-up confirmations and password resets.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the app.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it.
How your information is stored and shared
Your account and data are stored using Supabase, our hosting and authentication provider. We share information with a small number of service providers only as needed to run Dermi:
- Supabase — hosts your account and stores your profile, history, and saved items.
- Apple — if you choose Sign in with Apple, Apple processes that sign-in.
- Open Food Facts — receives the barcode number or search text to return product and ingredient data. We do not send your identity or health details to Open Food Facts.
We do not sell your personal information or share it for advertising. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of Dermi and its users.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can edit or clear individual profile fields, history entries, and favorites at any time inside the app.
To remove everything, go to Settings → Delete Account. This permanently deletes your account and all associated data. Backups and legally required records may persist for a limited period before being erased.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to withdraw consent. You can exercise most of these directly in the app, or contact us and we'll help. We won't discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, and account passwords are hashed and managed by our authentication provider — we never store your password in plain text. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
Children's privacy
Dermi is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region), and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we'll delete it.
Not medical advice
Dermi provides estimates based on ingredient science, not medical advice or diagnosis. Always consult a qualified professional for persistent skin concerns, allergies, or dietary decisions.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above, and we'll notify you in the app of material changes.
